Rhythm Puzzle
(Levels 1, 2 & 3) - This is a really fun and helpful supplement to help students understand rhythm. It is a collection of hearts, rhythms, time signatures and bar lines. This can be used to help explain rhythm values or students can create their own rhythmic pattens to perform on drums or with clapping.
Transcribing Fun
(Levels 2 & 3) - These little exercises are such a useful way for students to understand how the stave works. It’s a simple way to teach students how to carefully read the differences between notes and track how they move on the stave. One or two exercises can be used in the lesson as a quick supplement or sent home as homework during the week.
Semitone Song
(Level 3 and Major Scales) - This song is a wonderful tool for teaching semitones, how they sound and how to sing them. It’s a perfect introduction to scales and an excellent way to introducing sharps and flats. It includes the Kodaly syllables for both ascending and descending chromatic notes.
C Chromatic Scale Theory Pages
(Level 3 and Major Scales) - Alongside the Semitone Song these theory pages help students learn how to play and understand the C Chromatic Scales. It includes three worksheets; The scale written on the stave so students can add the correct accidentals both ascending and descending. It has a fingering chart similar to the Major Scale fingering charts, and a worksheet for learnign the letter names alongside the Kodaly syllables. both ascending and descending.
Transposing Song - Cartwheels
(Beyond Level 3 and Major Scales) - When students have learned the Major Scales and have had some experience with the Harmony Improv exercises, they are ready to play Transposing Songs. Cartwheels is the first in a series of such pieces. It is a fun piece on it’s own, perfect for recitals and good for technique and reading. It is also composed in a way that makes it easy to transpose using chord and solfa theory.
