Kodaly Piano Lessons - A look into PianoForte Level One

The video below shows you the inside pages of "PianoForte Level One" with ideas on how to use this method with your students. It introduces rich and valuable concepts to beginning piano students including:

  • Piano Geography

  • Pulse and Note Value

  • Tempo

  • Healthy Technique

  • Transposition

In Level One teachers and students are provided with lots of opportunities to make music together both with the piano and also away from the keyboard. There are teacher duets with every piece as well as lots of chants and musical exercises that are perfect for using drums, boomwhakers, xylophones, scarves etc.

PianoForte uses Kodaly principles to teach students how to play the piano by introducing Moveable Do Solfa and basic singing. It is not necessary to be a strong singer to use this method, the singing elements simply help children make an internal connection with sound.
